WORTHY Reads // April 2, 2015

Hey there!

Sorry for the long absence! March has been a bit of a whirlwind and I’m just getting some time to get my head space back in order and back to writing. It’s true what they say; when you take too long of a break from something, it’s much harder with each passing day to get back into the swing of things.

In other news, I can’t believe we’re already in the month of April. And I couldn’t be happier! (Seriously. Does anyone else feel like time is just whizzing by?) Not only is April my birthday month-woot, woot!- but it’s also Financial Literacy Month. I’m looking forward to writing a few blog posts focusing primarily on financial education. Stay tuned for that!

I hope you all have a great weekend. Here are two articles that I have read recently and enjoyed and hope you enjoy as well. Thanks for reading!

What Kind of Vacation Stay is Right for You?

Although it seems as if I just came back from my Mardi Gras trip in New Orleans, the travel bug has hit me and I am ready to get back on a plane and jet off to a new adventure. Luckily, that will happen sooner rather than later with my trip to Puerto Rico later this month. While planning, I was trying to figure out the best type of accommodations to book. Ultimately, I went the route of a typical hotel but this article breaks down the good and bad of hostels, vacation rentals and hotels.

Your Ultimate Guide to Kick-Ass Books for Every Occasion

I’ve always been a bookworm since I can remember. My genre of choice has always been fiction but over the last few years I’m finding myself draw to topics like motivation, inspiration and career help. Levo League published this great article filled with books that every woman should read at one point in her life. I’ve heard of (and read) quite a few of the books on this list but there are a few new titles that I’m looking forward to adding to my list!

WORTHY Reads // February 26, 2015

And just like that *snaps fingers*, another month in 2015 has gone by! How does it feel? Still chugging along and making financial progress? Still motivated? I really hope so!

When it comes to well-known holidays and observances, February is universally known as a month dedicated to love. We all (hopefully?) participated in showing love either to a partner or to ourselves.

However, besides excessive drinking on St. Patrick’s Day, March is all about Women’s History Month (also referred to as Women’s Appreciation Month). In honor of the many women who have fought and continue to fight for gender equality and women’s rights, I will be introducing a new series to highlight women I admire in the entertainment; business; and political fields. Stay tuned!

I hope you all have a great weekend. Here are three articles that I have read recently and enjoyed and hope you enjoy as well. Thanks for reading!

WORTHY Reads // February 13, 2015

Happy ‘almost’ Valentine’s Day! I think Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. There is something about the idea of falling in love with your very own casanova, prince charming, soulmate, etc. I don’t know why but I just love, LOVE!

Speaking of love, I just came back from New Orleans a few days ago and I feel like I left my heart (again) in that amazing little city. I can’t wait to share my itinerary and budgets next week!

WORTHY Reads // January 29, 2015

Can you believe the first month of the year is already almost over?

I’ve been making some progress on my goals and I’m still pretty motivated! Granted, it’s still very early in the year but the old me would have usually forgotten what my goals were- much less started making progress on them. I’m looking forward to seeing what February has to offer.

Speaking of February, I’m looking forward to taking my first trip of the year; in New Orleans! I love that little town that always seems to be alive. There are always things to do, food to eat and sights to see. I love New Orleans so much that this will be my second visit in less than a year. I can’t wait to share my experience as a “second-timer”. Perhaps I’ll share a detailed itinerary as well as a breakdown of my budget? Stay-tuned!

Hello // Blog changes

Hi all,

It’s been a while, huh?

The last few months have been a struggle for me with this blog because I’ve struggled to find my voice and really share anything going on in my life. Just to give a bit of history, I started as a fashion blog. However, I didn’t post very often because I felt there were hundreds of fashion blogs and didn’t want to be another drop in the sea. Also, the hassle of begging trying to convince friends and family to photograph my outfits was becoming a threat to my sanity. I then changed direction and wanted to talk about my day-to-day lifestyle. And that didn’t work because, unfortunately, I’m boring. Well, perhaps not boring but there was something uncomfortably narcissistic about a lifestyle blog (no shade to people who have one). I just struggled with coming up with something meaningful to write because, I mean, would anyone find my trip to the gas station interesting? Would anyone want to know about the time I had to curse out Deepak from Comcast because my cable was out again? (Sorry Deepak if you’re reading this. I know it wasn’t your fault there was an outage while Scandal was on.)

2014

Hey loves!

It’s been close to two years since I’ve written (I know , I know….HORRIBLE!). However, I am back on the wheel and I will start writing regularly. You know the mantra “New Year, New Me”? Well I am definitely going to keep it top of mind and embrace it (which means sharing with you!).  I can’t wait to update you on what has been going on and to let you in on some new things that I will be working on.

Talk to you soon!
