Worthy Women // Tracee Ellis Ross

I was first introduced to this next worthy woman via the wildly popular UPN/CW comedy series, Girlfriends. Tracee Ellis Ross played Joan Clayton, Esq., a woman who I did (and still do) identify with: a super successful woman in a male dominated field, who isn’t afraid to follow her dreams, and, although she seems to have it all together, she has her own quirks and a love life that is always in shambles (can I get an “Amen!” on that last one?!). Plus, she always has an amazing ‘fro.

These days, Tracee Ellis Ross plays a mixed race anesthesiologist named Dr. Rainbow “Bow” Johnson on the well received ABC show, Black-ish.

“It was when I realized I needed to stop trying to be somebody else and be myself, I actually started to own, accept, and love what I had.”- Tracee Ellis Ross for Los Angeles Times
